From the vantage point of his eighties, the Japanese printmaker Hokusai once described himself as "an old man mad about drawing." A century and a half later, the 83-year-old Jacob Landau finds this image of age, passion, and creativity, a compelling self-description. As he looks ahead to his eighties, savoring the prerogative of age, Landau looks back across seven decades of being "mad about drawing."

The works below appeared in the "Brandywine Workshop", Philadelphia, PA during 1996.
